Telangana Sanctions ₹900 Crore for Vikarabad Road Development, ₹290 Crore Works Begin in Tandur

The Telangana government has sanctioned ₹900 crore for road development in Vikarabad district , Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy announced while laying the foundation stone for road construction and strengthening works worth ₹290 crore in the Tandur Assembly constituency on Saturday.

The programme was attended by IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu , Legislative Council Chief Whip P. Mahender Reddy , MP Konda Vishweshwar Reddy , MLAs B. Manohar Reddy and Kale Yadaiah , District Collector Deepak Tiwari , and other public representatives.

Addressing a gathering at JPR Garden in Kandanelli , Komatireddy said the state government was investing heavily in road infrastructure across Telangana to improve connectivity and support economic growth. He noted that better roads encourage industrial investment, strengthen commercial activity and create employment opportunities.

Highlighting the government's welfare initiatives, the minister said several programmes had been implemented over the past 30 months under the Praja Palana framework. He stated that eligible poor families were being issued ration cards and supplied fine rice, while LPG cylinders were being provided at a subsidised price of ₹500 . He added that women’s self-help groups were receiving interest-free loans of up to ₹10 lakh and that substantial assistance had recently been credited to farmers under the Rythu Bharosa scheme.

Komatireddy also said the government was establishing Young India Schools in rural areas to improve educational standards. Referring to infrastructure projects in the region, he assured that construction of a ₹94-crore Railway Over Bridge (ROB) would begin within 18 weeks once pending court issues were resolved.

Speaking at the event, Sridhar Babu said the government was implementing development and welfare programmes simultaneously. He noted that road projects worth ₹261 crore were underway and that ₹30 crore had been sanctioned to prevent sewage from entering the Kagna River . He also highlighted the farm loan waiver scheme, employment generation efforts and the allotment of double-bedroom houses to 571 eligible beneficiaries in Tandur municipality.

Meanwhile, P. Mahender Reddy urged the government to allocate funds for roads connecting Telangana with neighbouring Karnataka, while Manohar Reddy said a ₹75-crore Advanced Technology Centre for minority welfare, a 30-bed hospital at Basheerabad , and a junior college had been sanctioned for the constituency.
