Telangana Prioritises Public Health, Women’s Empowerment: Minister Rajanarsimha

Reaffirming a welfare-centric approach to governance, Telangana’s Health Minister Damodar Rajanarsimha on Wednesday said the state is placing public health, education, and women’s empowerment at the forefront of its policy agenda. The remarks come amid the government’s intensified push to strengthen grassroots delivery systems under the “Praja Palana – Pragati Pranalika” initiative.

Speaking at a review programme in Narayankhed of Sangareddy district, the Minister said the 99-day action plan is designed to accelerate implementation of key welfare schemes and ensure benefits reach the most vulnerable sections. The programme, held at a Balasadan facility, was attended by local representatives and officials.

Highlighting reforms in the healthcare sector, Rajanarsimha noted that the government has initiated recruitment for nearly 18,000 posts in the Health Department, aiming to address long-standing staff shortages and improve service delivery, particularly in rural areas. He added that results for Multipurpose ANMs and Nursing Officers critical frontline roles will be announced soon, offering relief to thousands of job aspirants.

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy , the state is also expanding welfare coverage through strengthened Anganwadi services , which form the backbone of early childhood care. The Minister said nutritious meals are being provided daily to children aged 3–6 years, while take-home rations support infants and toddlers. These interventions are part of broader efforts to improve maternal health, child nutrition, and early education outcomes .

He further acknowledged the contributions of ANMs, ASHA workers, and Anganwadi staff , describing them as the backbone of rural healthcare delivery. Their role in enhancing immunisation, maternal care, and health awareness has been instrumental in improving public health indicators across the state.

During his visit to the Balasadan, Rajanarsimha interacted with children to understand their concerns and directed officials to install a RO drinking water plant to ensure access to safe water.

The event saw participation from public representatives, including MP Suresh Shetkar and other district officials, signalling coordinated efforts to translate policy into measurable outcomes.
