Telangana Plans One Lakh Indiramma Houses in Three Phases
The Telangana government has set a target of constructing one lakh Indiramma houses in three phases within the Core Urban Region Economy (CURE) limits, focusing on providing housing near beneficiaries’ existing residences to ensure their livelihoods are not affected, Revenue, Housing and Information and Public Relations Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy said.
The minister directed officials to identify suitable sites for Indiramma Towers on a war footing and accelerate preparations for the subsequent phases of construction.
Ponguleti conducted a review meeting at the Dr BR Ambedkar Secretariat on Friday with Collectors, Revenue Divisional Officers and Housing Department officials from Hyderabad, Rangareddy and Medchal–Malkajgiri districts. The meeting focused on land identification, construction plans and the selection of beneficiaries for double-bedroom houses.
The minister said the first phase would cover approximately 500 houses in each Assembly constituency. He instructed Collectors to speed up the identification of land for the ongoing phase and identify suitable sites in advance for the second and third phases. Officials were also asked to assess land availability and suitability regularly, prepare clear action plans and protect government lands.
Ponguleti directed officials to complete the selection of double-bedroom house beneficiaries in Hyderabad, Rangareddy and Medchal–Malkajgiri districts by the end of October. He stressed that the process must be transparent and fair, ensuring that all eligible applicants receive due consideration.
The Housing Corporation’s dedicated software will be used to conduct an online draw, with applicants’ details entered into the system before the selection. The minister instructed officials to follow a uniform procedure across all three districts.
To improve transparency, officials were directed to livestream the beneficiary selection process and make the recorded proceedings available on YouTube for people unable to watch them live.
Ponguleti said providing homes to poor families remained a government priority. In line with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s vision, the housing programme would be implemented without disrupting beneficiaries’ livelihoods. He urged officials to coordinate effectively and achieve the targets within the stipulated timelines.
