Telangana Municipal Poll Results to Be Declared Today
Telangana is set for a tense political showdown today as vote counting begins for 116 municipalities and 7 municipal corporations . Across 123 counting centers , officials will start tallying ballots from 8 a.m. , with final results expected to take longer due to the manual ballot system.
The State Election Commission has ensured that the counting process will be fully transparent. Strong rooms are under strict supervision, with webcasting facilities installed outside to allow public scrutiny. Only candidates, their agents, and election staff are permitted inside counting halls, and postal ballots will be counted first, followed by ordinary votes.
Security measures have been beefed up across the state. Heavy police deployments and prohibitory orders under Section 163 aim to prevent any disruptions, ensuring a smooth and orderly counting process.
These elections have become a prestige test for Telangana’s major parties Congress, BJP, and BRS . Riding on the wave of its Gram Panchayat victories in December , Congress is keen to replicate its success in urban centers. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy , during a recent strategy meeting in Delhi , expressed confidence that Congress will secure favorable results.
The BJP is seeking to position itself as a strong alternative, while the BRS is working to recover lost ground and consolidate its urban presence. With over 73% voter turnout , all eyes are on Telangana’s towns and cities as the state awaits the outcome of a highly competitive municipal poll.
