Telangana, Mauritius Strengthen Cultural Bonds Through Telugu Language and Heritage

Telangana has offered to support efforts to preserve and promote the Telugu language, culture and heritage in Mauritius, with Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka highlighting the long-standing cultural links between the state and the island nation.

Bhatti Vikramarka made the assurance during a meeting with a Mauritius delegation led by Lachmana Raj Pentiah, Minister for Public Service and Administrative Reforms, at Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Praja Bhavan in Hyderabad on Saturday.

The Deputy Chief Minister said Telangana and Mauritius share a special cultural bond, strengthened over the years through the Telugu-speaking community and its efforts to preserve its traditions. He noted that Telugu people form an important part of Mauritius’ multicultural society and continue to keep their language and cultural identity alive.

The Telangana government, he said, would extend necessary support to initiatives aimed at promoting Telugu culture, ancient epics and cultural traditions among the community in Mauritius. He also assured assistance for the Mauritius government’s ‘Ram Bhajan’ programme, along with cooperation in areas such as education, cultural research, the arts and language development.

The Mauritius delegation said the Telugu Cultural Centre in the country has been playing a key role in helping the Telugu community protect and promote its linguistic and cultural heritage.

The visiting representatives thanked the Telangana government for its commitment to the welfare of Telugu communities across the world and for its continued efforts to strengthen the growth and promotion of the Telugu language and culture.
