Telangana launches National Road Safety Month, Minister urges public participation

Telangana will observe National Road Safety Month from January 1 to 31, announced Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar . He urged everyone, particularly students, parents, public representatives, and officials, to actively participate in the campaign to raise awareness about road safety.

Under this initiative, districts, mandals, and villages will organize programs, meetings, and pledge ceremonies to promote safe driving practices. The main aim of the campaign is to reduce road accidents across the state.

As part of the awareness drive, students are encouraged to take a pledge with their parents to follow traffic rules and join school-based Road Safety Clubs . Minister Prabhakar stressed that vehicle owners must always wear helmets, avoid drinking and driving, follow correct routes, and refrain from speeding. With road accidents being a leading cause of fatalities, he emphasized that public participation is essential to improve safety and called on everyone to take collective responsibility.

Minister Pongaulati Srinivas Reddy lays foundation for ₹15 crore development projects

During a visit to Khammam district , Minister Pongaulati Srinivas Reddy laid the foundation for several development projects in Kalluru mandal , with a total estimated cost of ₹15 crore. Local MLA Matta Ragamayi Dayanand , Kalluru Market Committee Chairperson Neeraj Prabhakar , public representatives, the district collector, and officials attended the event.

The projects include road construction and upgrades: ₹2 crore for Narayanapur-Peruvanch road, ₹4 crore for Narayanapur-Ramakrishnapuram road, ₹7 crore for Peruvanch-Kuppanakuntla road, and ₹2 crore for a BT road from New Narayanapur to NSP Canal Lift.

The minister and officials also conducted a surprise inspection of Peruvanch District High School , directing that all pending works, including compound walls, be completed within two months. Minister Pongaulati emphasized that his administration will continue working until every village has basic infrastructure . He also announced that the second phase of Indiramma house allotments will begin from April, highlighting the simultaneous focus on welfare and development.
