The Telangana Board of Intermediate Education has released the First and Second Year Intermediate results for 2026 on Sunday. This year too, girls outperformed boys , while government colleges delivered impressive results . Out of a total of 9.97 lakh students who appeared for the examinations, the overall pass percentage stood at 71% . Telangana Government Advisor K. Keshava Rao , while announcing the results, expressed satisfaction over the students’ performance and noted that results have been steadily improving over the past three years .

The examinations were conducted across 1,495 centres statewide. In the First Year , 66.20% of students passed, while in the Second Year , the pass percentage stood at 70.58% . In terms of gender-wise performance, girls significantly outperformed boys . In the First Year, the pass percentage among girls was 74.40% , compared to 57.69% for boys. A similar trend continued in the Second Year, with 78.65% of girls passing , while the pass percentage for boys was 62.50% . Officials stated that these results clearly reflect the academic progress of girl students .

Reacting to the results, K. Keshava Rao described them as highly encouraging , highlighting the consistent improvement in pass percentages each year. He emphasised that while girls have shown outstanding performance, the intention is not to discourage boys but to acknowledge the ground reality . He also pointed out that government colleges have outperformed private institutions this year, countering the perception that they lag behind.

The results have dispelled the misconception that private colleges perform better. Particularly in the vocational stream , government colleges recorded a 72% pass rate , compared to just 59% in private colleges . Officials stated that while infrastructure may be limited, quality teaching, laboratory work, and faculty dedication in government institutions are superior. Around 80% of students expressed satisfaction with their results, according to officials.

Students can check their marks on official websites using their hall ticket numbers . The results released are provisional , and students can apply for recounting or reverification from April 13 . Fee payment for Advanced Supplementary Examinations will be accepted from April 13 to 20 , and the exams will commence from May 13 , conducted in two sessions daily . The Intermediate Advanced Practical Exams will be held from May 22 to May 25 , also in two sessions.
