


Telangana Health Week Celebrations: Ministers Perform Yoga at Gachibowli
The health week celebrations being held in Hyderabad as part of the Telangana government’s flagship programme ‘Praja Palana – Pragati Pranalika’ are progressing with great enthusiasm. As part of these festivities, a large-scale yoga session was organised on Friday morning at the Gachibowli Stadium under the aegis of the AYUSH department .
State Health Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha and Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar attended the event as chief guests and actively participated by performing yoga asanas. The programme aimed to promote health awareness among the public .
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha said that the state government is giving special emphasis to public health . He noted that the health week celebrations are being conducted under the slogan “Prevention is better” . Highlighting the challenges posed by modern lifestyles, he said many health issues are emerging and that yoga is an excellent solution to overcome them. He emphasised that yoga is not merely an exercise but should become a part of everyone’s daily routine .
Minister Ponnam Prabhakar stated that yoga is essential not only for physical fitness but also for mental well-being . Hundreds of students, government officials, and local residents participated in the session at Gachibowli Stadium. It was noteworthy that participants performed yoga in a disciplined manner alongside the ministers . The ministers conveyed that yoga helps in reducing stress and thereby enhances productivity. They reiterated that a healthy society can be built through preventive measures .
As part of the health week celebrations, a large human chain was also organised on Thursday at the Durgam Cheruvu Cable Bridge under the leadership of Minister Rajanarasimha. The event, titled ‘Red Run’ , was conducted to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS . The minister explained that its primary objective was to eliminate discrimination and social stigma associated with the disease. He stressed the importance of public awareness about the causes and prevention of AIDS, and particularly urged pregnant women to undergo testing .
The Telangana government’s ‘Praja Palana – Pragati Pranalika’ initiative is reaching people effectively at the grassroots level. Through yoga sessions, awareness rallies, and medical camps , the government is prioritising public health. The ministers expressed hope that people from all sections of society would actively participate and adopt healthy practices to make Telangana a healthier state . The efforts of the government machinery and the AYUSH department are being widely appreciated by the public and intellectuals alike.
