Telangana Has Become Rahul Gandhi’s ‘ATM’, Alleges KTR
Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K T Rama Rao (KTR) on Sunday accused the Congress government in Telangana of betraying voters by failing to implement its election promises, alleging that the state had become an “ATM” for Congress leader Rahul Gandhi under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s rule.
Speaking at Telangana Bhavan during the induction of senior minority leader Jibran Shareef from Khairatabad into the BRS, KTR alleged that Rahul Gandhi had remained silent on corruption allegations and controversies surrounding the state government. He demanded answers on promises made nearly 1,000 days earlier.
KTR recalled Rahul Gandhi’s interaction with unemployed youth at an Ashok Nagar tea stall in Hyderabad before the elections and questioned the government’s commitment to providing two lakh jobs within its first year. He said thousands of job aspirants were still awaiting clarity.
He also questioned the implementation of the Congress’s minority welfare declaration, including its promise of Rs 4,000 crore for minority welfare. He alleged that the government had failed to deliver on promises to increase Aasara pensions from Rs 2,000 to Rs 4,000 and raise farmers’ financial assistance from Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000 per acre.
KTR alleged that opposition leaders questioning the Revanth Reddy government were being threatened with abusive remarks and false cases. He raised questions about alleged land and business transactions involving members of the Chief Minister’s family, including a five-acre land deal involving a reported value of Rs 200 crore and an alleged transfer for Rs 7 crore. He also sought details of an alleged Rs 1,000-crore deal linked to another brother reportedly living in the United States. These claims were allegations made by KTR.
He accused the BJP of lacking the strength to challenge the Congress in Telangana and alleged that the BJP-led Centre was using the ED, CBI and Income Tax Department against political opponents. He said both parties were failing the public in different ways.
KTR said the decade-long KCR government had worked to improve electricity, drinking water and infrastructure, while promoting communal harmony and Hyderabad’s Ganga-Jamuni Tehzeeb. He recalled earlier power cuts and water shortages and accused the Congress of neglecting its promises to farmers in the districts.
Expressing confidence in the BRS’s revival, KTR declared that K Chandrashekar Rao would become Chief Minister again in 2028, promising to restore Telangana’s position among India’s leading states. He said Shareef’s induction would strengthen the party in Khairatabad.
Former ministers Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Mahmood Ali and Vemula Prashanth Reddy, MP Vaddiraju Ravichandra, MLC P. Surender Reddy and other BRS leaders attended the programme.
