Telangana govt clears ₹203 crore high-level bridge across Manair river

The Telangana government has accorded administrative sanction for the construction of a High Level Bridge across the Manair River, a major infrastructure project aimed at improving connectivity in Peddapalli district.

The bridge will be constructed between Arenda and Damerakunta villages in Manthani Mandal at an estimated cost of ₹203 crore. The project has been cleared to address long-standing connectivity challenges faced by residents, particularly during the monsoon season when rising water levels in the Manair River disrupt road movement and force commuters to take long detours.

Officials said the new bridge is expected to significantly reduce travel distance across the region. Based on similar Manair River bridge projects and existing road conditions, the bridge could cut travel distances by up to 40 to 50 kilometres on key routes, leading to a reduction in travel time of nearly one hour for daily commuters, transport vehicles and emergency services.

Once completed, the bridge will ensure uninterrupted connectivity between villages, mandal headquarters and nearby towns such as Manthani and Peddapalli. It will strengthen the local road network and improve access to healthcare facilities, educational institutions, markets and government services.

The project is also expected to boost economic activity by enabling faster and smoother transportation of agricultural produce and goods, benefiting farmers, traders and small businesses in the region. Improved connectivity will also enhance emergency response capabilities.

With administrative approval now in place, the project is expected to move into detailed planning, tendering and execution stages, and is likely to be completed in approximately three years , reflecting the Telangana government’s continued focus on strengthening road infrastructure and promoting balanced regional development.
