Telangana Governor, Deputy Chief Minister pay tribute to 1971 war heroes

On the occasion of Vijay Diwas, which commemorates India’s historic victory over Pakistan in the 1971 war, Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma and Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka paid rich tributes to the brave soldiers who laid down their lives for the nation.

The Governor and the Deputy Chief Minister visited the War Memorial, where they were joined by Major General Ajay Mishra, General Officer Commanding (Telangana & Andhra Sub Area), and other senior army officials. Floral wreaths were laid as a mark of respect, and homage was paid to the soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice in the service of the country.

Speaking on the occasion, the Governor recalled the courage, discipline, and selfless dedication of the Indian Armed Forces. Deputy Chief Minister Vikramarka emphasized the importance of remembering and honouring the sacrifices made by soldiers to protect the nation’s freedom and unity.

Major General Ajay Mishra reaffirmed the Indian Army’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding national security and maintaining the country’s integrity, according to an official defence statement.

The 1971 war stands as a landmark moment in India’s military history, leading to the liberation of Bangladesh. Vijay Diwas is observed every year as a day of pride, patriotism, and remembrance, honouring the bravery and sacrifice of India’s soldiers. Through this tribute, state leaders and defence officials reiterated their resolve to preserve the legacy of the armed forces for future generations.
