The Telangana government is moving quickly to prepare for the upcoming municipal elections. After achieving success in the panchayat polls, the Congress-led administration is now gearing up for local body elections in urban areas.

The State Election Commission (SEC) has announced a schedule for preparing and publishing voter lists across all municipalities and municipal corporations. These steps are aimed at ensuring that the basic arrangements for the elections are completed on time.

According to the schedule, the final voter lists for all polling stations in 117 municipalities and six municipal corporations will be published on January 10, 2026. Leading up to this, the polling station data will be reorganized on December 30, ward-wise adjustments will be made on December 31, and draft voter lists will be displayed on notice boards for public scrutiny on January 1.

Meetings with political party representatives will be held on January 5 and 6 at the Urban Local Body (ULB) and district levels. After reviewing objections, the final voter lists, complete with photographs, will be released on January 10. The preparation of ward-wise photo electoral rolls has been assigned to the respective municipal commissioners.

Election officials have stressed that the process will be transparent. They have urged all eligible voters to check the draft lists carefully to ensure their details are correct. Once the final voter lists are published, the schedule for the municipal elections is expected to be announced.
