
"Telangana Government Appoints 1,257 Lab Technicians, Sets New Milestone in Healthcare Development"
Telangana’s Health Department has marked a significant milestone under Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s leadership . The government fulfilled the aspirations of unemployed youth by issuing appointment letters to 1,257 lab technicians (Grade-2) in a single event. The ceremony was held at the Osmania Medical College grounds in Koti , with Health Minister Damodar Rajanarsimha as the chief guest. Ministers Ponnam Prabhakar and MP Anil Kumar Yadav also attended and handed over the appointment letters to the candidates.
Minister Rajanarsimha highlighted the speed of the recruitment process , stating that it was completed faster than ever before. The notification was released on September 11, 2024 , and appointments were completed by November 2025, reflecting the government’s efficiency. Out of 23,323 candidates , 1,257 were selected . Among them, 764 were posted under DME , 300 under DPH , 180 under TVVP , and 13 under MNJ .
Emphasizing the importance of lab technicians, the minister said that earlier treatment was based on symptoms, but now diagnosis precedes treatment . Lab technicians are the “eyes and ears” of the healthcare system , as their reports guide medical decisions. Accuracy is critical, and technicians are expected to maintain NABL standards while enhancing government lab services.
On government employment, the minister noted that the Revanth Reddy-led government has filled over 70,000 jobs across the state in the past two years. Within the Health Department alone, 9,572 posts have been filled , with 7,267 more in the final recruitment stage . Notifications for 996 approved posts will be released soon, and proposals for 2,344 additional positions have been submitted.
Minister Rajanarsimha also announced that the TIMS Hospital in Sanathnagar will be operational by Ugadi . The hospital, built with 1,000-bed capacity , will feature operation theaters, diagnostic facilities, advanced equipment, MRI machines , and an organ transplantation center . The hospital will serve as a Center of Excellence for cardiac care , host medical research, and provide full-fledged healthcare services to the public.
