Telangana Golconda Masters: Sheoran, Vishesh Share Lead With Record 60s

India’s Dhruv Sheoran and Hyderabad teenager Vishesh Sharma produced matching course-record rounds of 10-under 60 to share the opening-round lead at the Telangana Golconda Masters 2026.

The pair opened up a one-shot advantage at the Hyderabad Golf Association in the 12th edition of the tournament, which carries a ₹1 crore prize purse and is being held from September 1 to 4. Their scores matched the course record set by Manu Gandas in 2022.

Thirty-one-year-old Sheoran, from Gurugram, carded 11 birdies and one bogey for the lowest score of his career. The 2024 DP World PGTI winner started on the 10th hole and made five consecutive birdies through the 14th. Despite a bogey on the 15th, he recovered strongly and remained bogey-free for the rest of his round.

Sheoran’s round began with an impressive recovery after his opening drive found trouble. His ability to produce a difficult approach shot and secure birdie helped build early momentum. He later said a recent top-10 finish at the Telangana Open had boosted his confidence after a period of adjustment following his move to Japan in mid-June.

Nineteen-year-old Vishesh, competing in his second season on the DP World PGTI, matched the lead during the afternoon session. His brilliant round featured an eagle, nine birdies and one bogey, with the eagle coming on the par-five sixth. The Hyderabad golfer said matching the record at his home course made the achievement particularly special.

Amardeep Malik stood alone in third place after a nine-under 61, while Japan’s Koichiro Ishika was fourth with a bogey-free seven-under 63. Sri Lanka’s N Thangaraja and Delhi’s Honey Baisoya shared fifth place at six-under 64.

Defending champion Jamal Hossain struggled to a two-over 72 and was tied for 72nd, while DP World PGTI Rankings leader Saptak Talwar carded an even-par 70 to share 50th place. The tournament is also part of the Race to DP World India Championship, with the top 24 players on the Order of Merit set to qualify for the season-ending event.
