Telangana Gears Up for Final Phase of 99-Day Praja Palana Programme
The Telangana government has begun preparations for the final phase of its flagship 99-day Praja Palana–Pragathi Pranalika programme, with a strong focus on citizen engagement, environmental awareness, voter registration and sustainable agriculture. As the statewide initiative approaches its conclusion, the government is planning a series of grassroots outreach activities aimed at strengthening public participation in governance and development.
To review the arrangements, Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao on Tuesday held a high-level video conference with district collectors and senior officials from the State Secretariat. The meeting was attended by DGP C.V. Anand and other senior bureaucrats, who discussed the implementation of awareness programmes and public meetings across the state.
During the review, the Chief Secretary directed officials to organize Gram Sabhas and Ward Sabhas in all villages and urban wards on June 4, 6, 8 and 10. These meetings, he said, should be used as effective platforms to communicate government initiatives, encourage community participation and educate citizens on key issues affecting their daily lives.
A major component of the campaign will be awareness on the special continuous revision of electoral rolls being undertaken as per the guidelines of the Election Commission of India . Officials were instructed to ensure that eligible citizens register as voters and update their records so that more people can participate in the democratic process.
The Chief Secretary also emphasized the importance of promoting crop diversification among farmers. Through the public meetings, officials will educate cultivators on sustainable and profitable agricultural practices that can improve farm incomes while reducing dependence on a limited number of crops. The initiative is part of the government's broader effort to encourage resilient farming practices and long-term agricultural sustainability.
With the monsoon season approaching, district administrations have been asked to spread awareness about precautionary measures, prevent water stagnation in villages and towns, and improve sanitation conditions. Officials were also instructed to intensify tree plantation drives and educate residents about solid waste management to encourage greater community participation in environmental protection.
Ramakrishna Rao clarified that these activities would be conducted in addition to the thematic programmes already underway under the 99-day initiative. He directed district collectors to involve public representatives, women's self-help groups and local leaders to ensure government campaigns reach every household.
Addressing the meeting, DGP C.V. Anand stressed the need for close coordination between the police department and civil administration. Effective inter-departmental cooperation, he said, would help ensure the smooth and peaceful conduct of public programmes across the state.
The review meeting was also attended by Naveen Mittal , Special Chief Secretary of the Energy Department, Ahmed Nadeem , Principal Secretary of the Forest Department, Agriculture Director Gopi , and several other senior officials.
