Telangana Gears Up for Amberpet Mahankali Bonalu with Extensive Arrangements

The Telangana government has begun extensive preparations for the Amberpet Mahankali Bonalu celebrations, with Government Advisor V. Hanumantha Rao (VH) directing all departments to ensure seamless arrangements for devotees expected to attend the annual festival on August 9.

Reviewing the preparations at the Dr B.R. Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat, Hanumantha Rao instructed officials from key departments to work in close coordination and leave no room for inconvenience during one of the state's most significant religious festivals.

Representatives from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), TGTRANSCO, Police Department, Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB), Health Department, and the Department of Language and Culture were asked to synchronise their efforts to ensure efficient civic services, public safety, and crowd management.

Describing Bonalu as a defining symbol of Telangana's cultural and spiritual heritage, Hanumantha Rao said the month-long celebrations are being held from July 16 to August 13 across the state. He urged officials to maintain the same level of preparedness at temples in Hyderabad, Secunderabad, Ranga Reddy, and Medchal-Malkajgiri districts, where lakhs of devotees are expected to participate in the festivities.

The advisor emphasised that traditional events such as Ghatam processions, Bonam offerings, Thottela processions, Pothuraju performances, Rangam, Gavu Pattadam, and the ceremonial Saganampu are integral to Telangana's rich cultural legacy and should be conducted without disruption.

To handle the anticipated crowds, officials were directed to ensure uninterrupted drinking water supply, sanitation, power, decorative lighting, flower arrangements, queue management systems, CCTV surveillance, and medical camps at major temple premises. Special emphasis was also placed on traffic management, deployment of additional RTC buses, enhanced security, emergency medical response teams, and dedicated facilities for senior citizens and other vulnerable devotees.

Hanumantha Rao also thanked Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for sanctioning ₹20 crore for the conduct of Bonalu celebrations and the development of the Endowments Department, saying the allocation reflects the government's commitment to preserving Telangana's religious traditions while improving facilities for devotees.
