Telangana farmers protest, urge Jubilee Hills voters to reject Congress

As campaigning for the Jubilee Hills by-election comes to a close, farmers from across Telangana gathered in Borabanda to voice their grievances against the Congress party and Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.

Wearing green kanduva (scarf) and standing along the roadside, the farmers expressed deep frustration over promises made to them that remain unfulfilled. They accused the government of failing to deliver on key issues, including the supply of urea, crop bonuses, loan waivers, and fair crop procurement, which they say has caused significant financial losses.

Highlighting the seriousness of the situation, the farmers carried posters stating that 758 farmers had committed suicide in Telangana in the past two years under Congress rule. They urged the residents of Jubilee Hills not to vote for a party that has neglected its commitments. “Our goal is to raise our concerns publicly and democratically,” the farmers said.

Interestingly, ten farmers have filed nominations to contest the by-election, signaling their determination to hold the government accountable. Many of them stated that they entered the electoral race to teach a lesson to a government they feel has betrayed them.

The protest reflects a growing discontent among the farming community, with activists directly appealing to voters to consider their hardships when casting their ballots.
