Telangana DGP Shivadhar Reddy Visits Tirumala Temple
Telangana Director General of Police B. Shivadhar Reddy visited the Tirumala Venkateswara Temple on Friday and offered prayers, participating in special rituals under temple protocols.
Alongside his visit, the DGP renewed his appeal to Maoists to give up violence and return to the mainstream. Echoing the earlier call of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, he encouraged those operating underground to rejoin society and lead peaceful lives with their families.
Citing recent progress, Shivadhar Reddy said that continuous efforts by Telangana Police over the past two years have resulted in the surrender of 721 Maoists from Telangana and Chhattisgarh. The surrendered group includes 4 Central Committee members , 19 State Committee members , and 36 Divisional Committee members . He added that the government is providing financial aid and rehabilitation measures to help them reintegrate and live with dignity.
The DGP also called upon senior Maoist leaders from Telangana, including Muppala Lakshmana Rao, popularly known as Ganapathi, as well as Santosh and Sujatha, to return. He assured that the government is ready to extend advanced medical treatment in Hyderabad to Ganapathi, who is reportedly facing health issues.
Referring to the surrender of 130 Maoists on March 7 , he recalled the Chief Minister’s personal appeal to Ganapathi. Emphasising that violence has no place in a democratic framework, the DGP urged Maoists to become part of the development process. He also appealed to families of those still underground to guide them towards a peaceful path.
