Telangana DGP Office Head Constable Dies by Suicide With Service Pistol

A tragic incident unfolded at the Telangana Director General of Police (DGP) Headquarters in Hyderabad on Thursday morning after a Head Constable allegedly died by suicide using his service pistol inside the high-security police establishment. The incident has sent shockwaves across the police department, with investigators examining multiple angles to determine what led to the officer's death.

The deceased has been identified as Swami (40), a native of Nalgonda district, who was serving as a Head Constable at the Telangana DGP Office. According to police, he is believed to have entered a washroom designated for security personnel and shot himself with his service weapon. Officials said he sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the head and died on the spot.

Preliminary findings suggest the incident took place between 6:00 a.m. and 7:40 a.m. The matter came to light when another constable entered the washroom and found Swami lying in a pool of blood. Senior police officers and forensic experts immediately rushed to the scene and began collecting evidence.

Investigators recovered the service pistol along with a personal diary containing a handwritten note. According to officials, the note appealed to authorities not to blame or harass his wife and children, describing them as "good people" and requesting that they not be held responsible for his death. Police have sent the note for forensic examination to verify its authenticity and confirm whether it was written by Swami.

While the exact reason behind the suspected suicide remains unknown, police said they are investigating personal, family, financial, and professional aspects of the case. Some preliminary media reports have suggested that investigators are also looking into the possibility of financial stress and online betting-related debts.
