Telangana CM warns officials against Neglect in Schemes

Telangana CM Revanth Reddy on Saturday warned Principal Secretaries, Secretaries, and Heads of Departments (HoDs) against a “neglectful attitude” in implementing government schemes and development projects.

Addressing a special meeting at his residence with CMO secretaries and Chief Secretary Ramakrishna Rao, Reddy expressed dissatisfaction with certain officials for underperformance and failing to improve their work style despite two years of the Congress government in power. He emphasised that dereliction of duty would not be tolerated.

The Chief Minister instructed officials to shed laziness and perform their responsibilities in alignment with government goals, stressing the need for coordination across departments. He cautioned against making independent decisions that could affect the government’s reputation and urged officials to focus on the development of the state and the welfare of its citizens.

Reddy directed officials to ensure that scheme benefits effectively reached the people. He ordered Chief Secretary Ramakrishna Rao to collect regular reports from all departmental secretaries and review the progress of ongoing works.

During the meeting, the CM reviewed the status of central funds and instructed all departments to expedite actions for the release of pending central grants under various centrally sponsored schemes. Priority was to be given to schemes for which the state share had already been paid.

Additionally, the Chief Minister mandated that the Chief Secretary and CMO officials submit weekly reports on the departments under their jurisdiction, which he will personally review to monitor progress.

The meeting underlined the Telangana government’s commitment to effective implementation of development schemes and timely utilisation of funds for public welfare.
