The Telangana government has announced major relief for 70 lakh farmers across the state, with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy stating that ₹9,000 crore under the Rythu Bharosa investment support scheme will be credited directly into farmers’ accounts in three instalments over the next 45 days .

The announcement was made at a public meeting after inaugurating an oil palm processing factory completed in just 17 months at Narmetta village in Siddipet district.

The Chief Minister said the government is prioritising farmer welfare, noting that the current administration is spending an average of ₹5,500 crore , compared to ₹2,700 crore during the previous BRS government. He emphasised that ensuring financial security for farmers remains a key objective.

Detailing the disbursement schedule, he said the first instalment of ₹3,600 crore will be credited immediately, followed by ₹5,400 crore within 20 days , and the remaining amount in the subsequent 20 days. The government aims to complete the entire process within 45 days .

Raising concerns over global developments, the Chief Minister warned that Iran–US tensions and the broader West Asian crisis could lead to a fertilizer shortage . He said the state will engage with the Centre to increase urea supplies and that he would meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi to seek maximum allocation for Telangana. He added that, post-elections, the focus would remain on development rather than politics.

On crop diversification, he noted that although 71 lakh metric tonnes of paddy were procured in the state, the Centre has limited procurement to 50 lakh metric tonnes , urging a shift towards more remunerative crops . He said the government is working to ensure that every crop grown in the state is profitable for farmers and is exploring export opportunities for agricultural produce. Promoting oil palm cultivation, he assured procurement from 10 lakh acres .

The Chief Minister stated that over ₹1 lakh crore has been spent on farmer welfare in the past two years, calling it evidence of the government’s commitment.

He also announced key initiatives in the education sector, including the launch of ‘Telangana Public Schools’ in the upcoming academic year to compete with private and corporate institutions. He said government schools would be upgraded comprehensively, with a focus on skill development through advanced training centres. A breakfast scheme for students will also be introduced, and those enrolled in Advanced Training Centres (ATCs) will receive a monthly scholarship of ₹2,000 .

Appealing to parents, he said government schools have over one lakh highly trained teachers and urged them not to prefer private institutions unnecessarily.

On women’s empowerment, he directed officials to expand membership in self-help groups (SHGs) in urban areas, noting that ₹57,000 crore in loans has already been extended to women’s groups through bank linkages.

He cited Ankapur village in Nizamabad district as a model for the state’s 12,728 gram panchayats , urging villages to adopt diversified and profitable agricultural practices. He emphasised that development should not be hindered by political differences and that all regions of the state would be developed equally without discrimination.

During the visit, the Chief Minister laid foundation stones and inaugurated development works worth ₹775.72 crore in Siddipet district.

At the Rythu Mahotsavam held in Narmetta, he inspected 150 stalls showcasing advanced agricultural technologies, seed varieties, and organic farming methods. Interacting with agricultural scientists, he enquired about new crop varieties and their yield potential, and reviewed the use of drones and modern equipment in farming. He also interacted directly with farmers to understand their challenges and feedback on government support, noting that the exhibition serves as a guide for future-ready farming practices .
