Telangana CM Sets June 2, 2028 Deadline For TCS HyperVault AI Data Centre

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has urged TCS subsidiary HyperVault to complete and inaugurate its proposed artificial intelligence data centre in Hyderabad by June 2, 2028, coinciding with Telangana Formation Day.

Speaking at the announcement of the project on Saturday, Reddy said the government wanted the facility to be inaugurated exactly 21 months from the groundbreaking. “Our state formation day is June 2. Groundbreaking to inauguration, there are 21 months from today. We want to inaugurate your AI data centre on June 2, 2028,” he said. The Chief Minister assured the company that the state government would provide all necessary sanctions and support.

HyperVault has secured 264 acres of land in Hyderabad to establish a large-scale AI data centre campus with a total investment outlay of up to ₹70,000 crore. The purpose-built facility is planned with a capacity of up to 1 gigawatt (GW) and will provide high-density, liquid-cooled computing infrastructure aimed at supporting frontier AI companies and hyperscalers globally.

Calling the announcement a major moment for Telangana, Reddy described the project as a significant step towards turning the government’s Bharat Future City vision into reality. He said the investment would also help generate around 7,000 jobs. The Chief Minister further encouraged TCS and HyperVault to raise their proposed investment to ₹1 lakh crore, assuring them of continued government support.

Reddy said Telangana is targeting a USD 1 trillion economy by 2034 and a USD 3 trillion economy by 2047. The state currently contributes around 5 per cent to India’s GDP, and he said the government wants to increase Telangana’s contribution to 10 per cent of the national GDP.

Seeking greater participation from TCS and other Fortune 500 companies, Reddy said Telangana needs their support to achieve its long-term economic ambitions. He also addressed concerns over artificial intelligence replacing jobs, saying that while AI could affect several engineering roles, it would not replace blue-collar employment in the same manner.

The Chief Minister highlighted the establishment of the Young India Skills University as part of the state’s efforts to prepare the workforce for changing employment requirements.

Reddy also sought to assure investors that their investments in Telangana would remain safe and commercially viable. He said the state had improved its policies and rejected concerns over policy paralysis.

Rather than viewing neighbouring states such as Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh as competitors, Reddy said Telangana’s aspirations were much larger. He identified China, Germany, Japan, South Korea and Singapore as the economies Telangana seeks to compete with and emulate.
