Telangana BJP Seeks Governor’s Intervention Over ₹15,000 Crore Fee Reimbursement Arrears

Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao has urged Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla to direct the Congress government to immediately release the ₹15,000 crore pending fee reimbursement dues in the state. A BJP delegation led by Rao met the Governor on Tuesday and submitted a representation, seeking his intervention to resolve the issue and provide relief to thousands of students dependent on the scheme.

The delegation informed the Governor that more than 40 lakh students from economically weaker and disadvantaged sections were being affected by the delay in releasing the reimbursement amounts. According to the BJP leaders, the government’s failure to clear the dues has created difficulties for students as well as educational institutions. They claimed that several students were unable to obtain their certificates from colleges because the institutions were yet to receive the outstanding payments from the government.

The BJP also highlighted the impact of the pending dues on college employees. With institutions facing financial pressure due to unpaid reimbursement amounts, staff members were reportedly not receiving their full salaries. The delegation said the continuing uncertainty was affecting not only students’ education but also the functioning of colleges across the state.

The BJP delegation said the party had made several attempts to draw the government’s attention to the issue, but alleged that its appeals had failed to elicit a response. It pointed out that Ramchander Rao had undertaken a protest demanding immediate action on the fee reimbursement issue.

The leaders further claimed that around eight lakh students had written letters to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy seeking the release of the pending dues. Despite the large number of appeals, the government had not responded adequately, they alleged.

The BJP urged Governor Shukla to step in keeping the future of students in mind and facilitate the release of the outstanding amount at the earliest. The party maintained that clearing the dues would help students obtain their certificates and enable colleges to address their financial commitments.

The delegation included state vice-presidents Bomma Jayashree, B. Shanthikumar and D. Kalyan Naik, general secretaries Dr N. Gautham Rao, Vemula Ashok and T. Veerender Goud, spokesperson N.V. Subhash, secretary P. Bharat Prasad, and BJYM state president Ganesh Kunde, among others.
