Telangana BJP President Ramachander Rao Predicts Power Change In West Bengal
Telangana BJP State President N. Ramachander Rao on Sunday alleged that leaders of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) are in a state of disappointment and concern following the exit poll results of the West Bengal elections.
Speaking to the media in Hyderabad, he said that the Mamata Banerjee-led government is set to lose power in West Bengal , and that is why TMC leaders are making baseless allegations against the Election Commission and EVMs.
Ahead of the vote counting scheduled on May 4 , he expressed confidence that all exit polls clearly indicate a change of government in West Bengal. “Once it became clear that Didi Mamata Banerjee’s defeat was certain , TMC leaders reacted out of frustration. For the first time in West Bengal history, the BJP is going to form the government there,” Ramachander Rao said.
He also criticised the TMC’s opposition to the deployment of central forces during elections. While TMC leaders claim that people are afraid of central forces, he said that in reality, the presence of central forces ensured that people could come out and vote freely without fear. He added that in earlier elections, West Bengal witnessed violence and attacks on opponents, but this time such incidents have significantly reduced due to central forces. He also alleged that the TMC tried to suppress opposition through the state police.
Meanwhile, the Election Commission has taken a key decision regarding irregularities during the recent election process. Following reports of serious violations of electoral rules and disruption of the democratic process during polling on April 29 , re-polling has been ordered in all 285 polling stations of Falta Assembly constituency .
Re-polling has also been conducted in 15 booths across West Bengal’s Magrahat and Diamond Harbour constituencies , and the Election Commission has announced that this re-polling will be held on May 21 .
In this context, a BJP delegation met West Bengal Chief Electoral Officer Manoj Kumar Agarwal . On the other hand, a team led by TMC leader Kunal Ghosh visited the EVM strong rooms set up at Netaji Indoor Stadium. Political debate over the election process continues to intensify.
