The Telangana government has announced a special Diwali bonus for Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) employees, bringing additional festive cheer to thousands of coal workers. The company will credit Rs.419 crore towards the Performance Linked Reward (PLR) bonus to eligible employees on November 5, following directions from Deputy Chief Minister and Energy Minister Bhatti Vikramarka.

Under the latest announcement, individual workers can receive a maximum bonus of Rs.1,10,250. The payment comes shortly after the government released nearly Rs.600 crore as a profit-sharing bonus to Singareni employees during the Dasara festival.

In a statement issued on Friday, Bhatti Vikramarka extended Diwali greetings to Singareni employees and acknowledged their contribution to powering the state. He said the government was committed to the planned development and expansion of the coal company. He also called upon workers and officials to focus on reducing production costs and improving operational efficiency to meet the growing competition in the coal sector.

Following the Deputy Chief Minister's instructions, Singareni CMD Dr. Buddhaprakash Jyoti held a meeting with officials from the personnel and finance departments and directed them to complete the necessary arrangements for releasing the bonus on November 5.

The Diwali bonus will be applicable only to NCWA employees and not to officers. Workers who completed at least 190 working days in underground mines or 240 days in opencast and surface operations during the previous financial year will qualify for the full bonus. Those who worked fewer days will receive payments proportionate to their attendance. A minimum of 30 working days is mandatory to qualify for the benefit.

Around 38,000 employees are expected to benefit from the latest announcement. With both Dasara profit-sharing payments and the Diwali bonus, individual workers are set to receive an average of up to Rs.2.65 lakh within a month. Singareni management is spending approximately Rs.1,020 crore on the two payments.

CMD Buddhaprakash Jyoti urged employees to use the festive payments responsibly, meet their family requirements and save a portion for the future. He also encouraged them to maintain the festive spirit at work and achieve the production targets assigned to individual mines and departments.
