Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has announced plans to position the state as a major industrial hub for India’s defence sector, assuring investors of comprehensive government support to establish manufacturing facilities and expand their operations.

Addressing the curtain-raiser event for the upcoming Raksha Expo on Saturday, Revanth said his vision was to make India a global defence powerhouse, with Telangana playing a leading role in strengthening the country’s defence manufacturing capabilities. He invited industrialists to invest in the state, promising assistance with approvals, incentives, land allocation and other requirements. He also offered to personally serve as a brand ambassador to attract investments.

The Raksha Expo will be organised as part of the Invest Telangana Global Summit 2026, scheduled for December 7, 8 and 9 at Bharat Future City. Inviting industry representatives to participate, the Chief Minister said the previous edition of the global summit had been successful.

Revanth stressed that India must reduce its dependence on imported defence equipment and technology, achieve self-reliance in manufacturing and eventually emerge as one of the world’s leading defence exporters.

He observed that strong defence capabilities were necessary not only during wars but also to preserve peace by deterring potential adversaries. While Telangana already made a significant contribution to the national defence sector, he said the state needed to expand its presence further.

The Chief Minister identified aerospace, cybersecurity and artificial intelligence (AI) as additional areas offering substantial investment opportunities. He urged industrialists to increase investments in these sectors and assured them that he would personally address their concerns. The government would work to resolve investor-related issues and help translate proposed projects into reality.

The state government aims to transform Telangana into a $1 trillion economy by 2034 and a $3 trillion economy by 2047. Revanth said Telangana, which accounts for more than 2.5 per cent of India’s population and approximately five per cent of its GDP, aims to raise its contribution to the national economy to 10 per cent by 2047.

He added that defence production, aerospace and allied industries would be instrumental in achieving these targets. The government is also preparing to introduce Aerospace and Defence Policy 2.0.

Baba Kalyani, chairman of Bharat Forge, said his company had operated a missile manufacturing facility in Hyderabad for 12–14 years and was exploring opportunities for further major investments in Telangana. State ministers, senior officials and industrialists attended the programme.
