Telangana aims to become India’s Aerospace Capital: Minister Sridharbabu

Telangana is taking significant steps to strengthen its aerospace ecosystem, aiming to become the Aerospace Capital of India, IT Minister Sridhar Babu announced on X. A brainstorming session with industry leaders and experts was held at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat, organized in collaboration with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), to discuss the future of the sector in the state, he added.

Telangana already has a strong presence in aerospace and defence, Sridhar Babu highlighted. Hyderabad hosts global majors such as Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), Tata, Safran, and the Boeing-TASL (Tata Advanced Systems Limited) joint venture. Additionally, over 1,000 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) operate in the state, contributing to aerospace exports that have crossed ₹28,000 crore, he noted.

During the session, IT Minister Sridhar Babu said plans were unveiled to further strengthen the sector. These include a Phase-2 Aerospace and Defence Cluster, which will expand opportunities for companies and startups, a dedicated MSME Park to support small businesses, and a Green Aviation Hub to promote sustainable aviation practices.

The Telangana government is focusing on skill development, Sridhar Babu explained, partnering with industry to ensure that the state’s youth gain the expertise needed to compete globally. By providing training and career opportunities in aerospace and defence, Telangana aims to create a highly skilled workforce that meets international standards.

IT Minister Sridhar Babu emphasized that these initiatives will help Telangana emerge as a global hub for aerospace and defence. “With industry collaboration and government support, our youth will become globally competitive professionals, taking Telangana closer to becoming the Aerospace Capital of India,” he said.

With these strategic plans, Sridhar Babu said Telangana is positioning itself as a leading destination for aerospace and defence industries, fostering innovation, skill development, and sustainable growth.
