Telangana aims for ‘Zero Seasonal Cases’ as health minister conducts review

Telangana Health Minister Damodar Rajanarsimha on Tuesday participated in a review meeting at the Rajiv Aarogyasri Health Care Trust office to assess the state’s preparedness and response to seasonal diseases.

During the meeting, officials presented a detailed PowerPoint report outlining the current status of seasonal disease cases across Telangana. Health department authorities informed the minister that cases have decreased compared to last year, attributing this decline to proactive preventive measures implemented by the public health department.

“The state has taken early steps to prevent seasonal diseases, which has helped control the number of cases,” officials told the minister. Following his instructions, health department teams have been conducting field visits to raise awareness among the public about preventive practices.

Minister Rajanarsimha directed officials to aim for a “zero-case” scenario in Telangana, emphasizing the importance of public awareness and timely interventions. Health officials also assured the minister that all government hospitals across the state are stocked with essential medicines required for treating seasonal illnesses.

The review meeting was attended by senior officials, including Dr. Christina Z. Chongthu, Secretary of the State Medical Department; Uday Kumar, CEO of Aarogyasri Trust; Dr. Narendra Kumar, DME; Dr. Ravinder Kumar, Director of Health; TVVP Commissioner Dr. Ajay Kumar; and Special Officer Vimala Thomas.

The minister appreciated the department’s efforts and stressed the need to maintain vigilance throughout the season to ensure the health and safety of Telangana’s residents.
