Telangana aims for a new era in tourism with ‘Vision 2026’

Telangana is charting ambitious plans to elevate its tourism sector to global standards. The state government has unveiled a roadmap, ‘Tourism and Its Vision 2026,’ aimed at attracting both domestic and international travelers, showcasing its cultural heritage, and enhancing infrastructure for a world-class tourism experience. The initiative was presented at a special event held at the historic Taramati Baradari in Hyderabad, organized by the Telangana State Tourism Development Corporation (TGTDC). Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao, along with senior officials, inaugurated the TGTDC 2026 Table Calendar at the event.

Minister Jupally highlighted that Telangana already possesses immense natural resources and a rich cultural legacy. He emphasized that instead of creating something entirely new, the focus should be on improving and presenting these assets effectively to the world. This approach, he noted, would naturally draw tourists from across India and abroad.

The government plans to highlight the hidden gems of rural areas, tribal lifestyles, local food, and cultural traditions. Efforts will also aim to connect the experiences of urban and rural Telangana, from historic monuments and heritage sites to modern cityscapes, metro rail networks, and contemporary urban life.

The Minister stressed the importance of creating an environment that encourages tourists to stay for at least two days, not just a quick visit. This requires upgrading accommodation, dining, and transport facilities. Tourism promotion will also extend to IT corridors, shopping malls, and educational institutions through attractive displays and campaigns. Creative performances, cultural art forms, and skits reflecting Telangana’s unique culture will be used to captivate visitors.

Telangana aims to emerge as a leading destination in India’s hospitality sector, aspiring to compete with states like Kerala. The Minister pledged his full support for comprehensive reforms in the tourism department and urged officials to work in close coordination at the ground level to make Telangana’s tourism sector truly exceptional.
