
Tejas Networks surpasses 17,000 router milestone in BharatNet Phase III rollout
Tejas Networks Limited on Monday announced a major milestone in India’s rural broadband expansion, stating it has cumulatively supplied over 17,000 IP/MPLS routers for the government’s ambitious BharatNet Phase III project.
The company said its TJ1400 series routers are being deployed across nine states and five Union Territories by Project Implementation Agency (PIA) partners. Several of these installations are already operational and carrying live traffic , indicating steady progress in the nationwide connectivity programme.
In total, Tejas Networks is expected to deliver nearly 60,000 routers under the project. These deployments aim to extend high-speed broadband connectivity to over 55,000 Gram Panchayats and around 2,000 blocks , significantly strengthening rural digital infrastructure.
The TJ1400 routers are part of the company’s next-generation networking portfolio , built on its Software-defined Hardware architecture. The systems are designed to support high-capacity, scalable and reliable IP/MPLS networks , essential for large-scale national infrastructure projects.
Commenting on the development, Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director Arnob Roy said the milestone highlights the company’s growing expertise in complex telecom solutions . He added that BharatNet remains a key initiative for digital inclusion , aimed at bridging the connectivity gap in rural India.
A part of the Tata Group, Tejas Networks designs and manufactures telecom equipment for service providers, utilities, defence, and government sectors, with operations in over 75 countries .
