The Paritala family has emerged as the first major supporter of the long-standing demand to include the Valmiki community in the Scheduled Tribes (ST) list, said TDP leader Paritala Sriram.

Sriram attended the Valmiki Jayanti celebrations in Dharmavaram, which featured the groundbreaking ceremony for a new Valmiki statue at Erragunta Circle. He participated in the traditional Bhoomi Puja (foundation ritual) and later paid floral tributes at the statue near the government hospital.

Speaking on the occasion, Sriram urged the community to draw inspiration from Maharshi Valmiki and continue to move forward on the path of righteousness. He welcomed the efforts to establish the statue as a symbol of unity and dedication.

Highlighting the decades-long struggle for ST recognition, Sriram expressed concern over the delays in granting reservation benefits to the Valmiki community. He noted that local representatives, including MLA Kalva Srinivasulu and MP Ambika Lakshminarayana, have been actively advocating for the cause in both the state Assembly and Parliament.

Sriram expressed hope that the long-awaited dream of including Valmikis in the ST list would soon become a reality, encouraging everyone to continue the fight with determination and integrity.
