
TDP Serves Show-Cause Notice to MP Putha Mahesh Kumar
The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has issued a show-cause notice to Putha Mahesh Kumar , the Member of Parliament from Eluru , over allegations that he consumed drugs at a private gathering.
State party president Palla Srinivasa Rao asked him to submit a written explanation within five days and stay away from party activities until further notice, stating that such incidents could damage the party’s reputation.
The controversy stems from a raid conducted on March 14 at a farmhouse in Moinabad, on the outskirts of Hyderabad, owned by former Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLA Rohith Reddy . Acting on specific information about a suspected drug party , officials from the Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement , along with local police, detained 11 individuals . Preliminary tests reportedly indicated drug consumption .
Responding to the allegations, Mahesh Kumar denied wrongdoing, stating that he attended the gathering only after a dinner invitation and had not consumed drugs. He urged the public not to believe misinformation circulating on social media and said the truth would soon come out.
