TDP Names Varla Ramaiah, Dalavai Ramadevi for Governor-Quota MLC Posts

The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leadership has finalized Varla Ramaiah and Dalavai Ramadevi as its nominees for the two vacant Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council seats under the Governor’s quota. The decision has been taken keeping social representation in mind, with one seat allotted to the SC community and the other to the BC community.

Varla Ramaiah has been selected to represent the SC category, while Dalavai Ramadevi, who belongs to the Vaddera community, has been chosen for the BC quota. The formal process for their nomination and appointment is expected to begin shortly.

The two Council seats became vacant following the completion of the terms of Governor-quota MLCs Pandula Ravindra Babu and Zakia Khanam. The latest nominations are expected to further strengthen the ruling alliance’s representation in the Legislative Council once the appointments are formally completed.

Ramaiah, a senior TDP leader, is set to get another opportunity in the Legislative Council. He has remained active in party affairs and has played a longstanding role in the organisation. The leadership is understood to have considered his experience and contribution to the party while selecting him for the SC quota.

For the second seat, the party opted for Dalavai Ramadevi, citing her association with the TDP and the need to provide representation to the BC community. Her selection also gives the Vaddera community representation in the Council.

Following the announcement of her candidature, Ramadevi met Minister Nara Lokesh in a courtesy meeting. She thanked him and the party leadership for giving her the opportunity to serve as an MLC.

Lokesh said the TDP has consistently recognised dedicated party workers who work sincerely at the grassroots level. He urged Ramadevi to use her new position to address public concerns, remain accessible to people and discharge her responsibilities effectively.

Ramadevi said she would use the opportunity to serve the public and work with commitment in her new role. The official nomination and appointment process is expected to follow soon.
