TDP leaders suspended over illicit liquor factory in Annamayya district

In a shocking development, an illegal liquor manufacturing unit in Mulakalacheruvu mandal of Annamayya district has put the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) on the defensive. Excise officials, armed with evidence, have revealed that the illicit liquor production, sale, and supply chain operated under the watch of certain TDP leaders. This revelation has forced the party into a corner, with mounting public pressure for answers.

Already facing public dissatisfaction over issues like privatization of medical colleges and the sale of the steel plant, the TDP is now battling allegations of running fake liquor factories. In response, the party leadership has moved to contain the damage. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu collected detailed reports on the involvement of party leaders and instructed state party president Palla Srinivas Rao to take swift action.

In line with these instructions, Palla Srinivas Rao announced the suspension of Tamballapalli constituency in-charge Dasaripalle Jayachandra Reddy and local leader Katta Surendra Naidu from the party. He also confirmed that a comprehensive probe would be conducted into their role.

Excise authorities have registered cases against Jayachandra Reddy’s personal secretary Rajesh, close associate Janardhan Rao, and certain relatives, after confirming their involvement. Reports suggest that Jayachandra Reddy and Janardhan Rao, named as prime accused, are currently in South Africa. Jayachandra Reddy, previously engaged in the liquor business there, contested the recent elections from Tamballapalli but lost to YSRCP candidate Peddireddy Dwarkanath Reddy. Party insiders allege that he made no genuine effort to win and failed to unify local factions after the formation of the coalition government.

With the fake liquor scandal now tied to his name, the party high command has acted decisively. Meanwhile, YSRCP is ramping up its attack, accusing TDP of setting up spurious liquor units statewide and selling toxic alcohol that endangers lives.

Adding fuel to the fire, a massive cache of fake liquor was recently seized from a TDP leader’s residence in Krishna district. Authorities believe this stock was supplied from the Mulakalacheruvu factory and distributed across different regions, allegedly generating crores in illegal profits for TDP leaders. As these incidents pile up, the scandal threatens to further damage TDP’s already strained image.
