TDB supports Indian firm in developing indigenous EV Chargers to boost clean mobility

Parwanoo, Himachal Pradesh: The Technology Development Board (TDB), under the Department of Science & Technology, has sanctioned financial support to M/s Electrowaves Electronics Pvt. Ltd. for the commercialisation of indigenously designed and manufactured electric vehicle (EV) chargers. The initiative aligns with the government’s push for clean mobility and self-reliance, reducing dependence on imported charging solutions and promoting India’s transition to electric transportation.

Electrowaves Electronics has developed AC and DC fast chargers along with key components such as power modules, insulation monitoring devices, and communication controllers. Its DC fast chargers operate in the 30–240 kW range, while the AC Type-2 chargers cater to both domestic and public charging needs. The technology stack includes 15 kW and 30 kW power converter modules, PLC and OCPP communication controllers, and universal DC charge controllers with full human-machine interface design.

TDB’s support is expected to strengthen the domestic electric mobility ecosystem by scaling production of technologically competitive charging infrastructure, improving accessibility, and advancing India’s net-zero emissions goals. It also reinforces supply chains in the strategic energy and clean-tech sectors, enhancing India’s global competitiveness in the EV landscape.

Shri Rajesh Kumar Pathak, Secretary, TDB, said, “The company’s efforts in developing and commercialising indigenous EV chargers reflect India’s commitment to innovation-driven self-reliance. Such projects enhance energy security, reinforce sustainable industrial growth, and accelerate the nation’s transition toward clean mobility.”
