TCS Nashik Case: Accused Seeks Bail, Alleges Complaint Driven by ‘Frustration’
The alleged sexual harassment case at Tata Consultancy Services’ Nashik unit has taken a new turn, with the prime accused Danish Shaikh moving a bail application and strongly contesting the allegations against him. Currently in judicial custody, the 31-year-old software professional has claimed that the complaint was driven not by facts, but by “one-sided feelings” or possible parental pressure on the complainant.
Filed through his lawyer Umesh Walzade , the plea argues that Shaikh never made any remarks that could hurt religious sentiments and maintains that the relationship between him and the complainant dates back to their college days. According to the defence, the woman was fully aware of his marital status, which includes a wife and two children.
However, the complaint paints a starkly different picture. The survivor has alleged that Shaikh gained her trust under the pretext of helping her secure a job at TCS , subjected her to sexual harassment, and later promised marriage despite already being married . The allegations also include claims of emotional manipulation and betrayal.
A key argument raised in the bail plea is the significant delay in filing the FIR , with the alleged incidents dating back to 2022 while the complaint was registered only in 2026. The defence has questioned the absence of a “valid explanation” for this gap.
Shaikh, along with four others, has been booked under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita , including those related to sexual harassment, intercourse by deceitful means, and acts intended to outrage religious feelings. Provisions of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act have also been invoked, adding gravity to the case.
Meanwhile, the Nashik Police’s Special Investigation Team (SIT) is probing a wider network of allegations linked to the TCS unit, including forcible conversion attempts, molestation, and mental harassment . So far, eight individuals have been arrested in connection with nine separate cases.
TCS has reiterated its zero-tolerance policy towards any form of harassment or coercion, confirming that employees accused in the case have been suspended pending investigation.
The Nashik sessions court is scheduled to hear Shaikh’s bail application on May 2 , in what is shaping up to be a closely watched case with serious legal and social implications.
