Tata Motors revives iconic Sierra in a bold new avatar
Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles on Saturday unveiled the all-new Sierra, bringing back one of its most iconic nameplates in a modern, feature-rich avatar.
The company said the new Sierra retains its heritage-inspired silhouette while embracing a contemporary design language that represents freedom, individuality, and the spirit of exploration. Positioned in the fast-growing mid-size SUV segment, it will compete with established models such as the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara, and Honda Elevate.
The official market launch of the new Sierra is scheduled for November 25, 2025.
Speaking at the event, Martin Uhlarik, Vice President and Head of Global Design at Tata Motors, said the Sierra is “much more than a name or a vehicle; it's a living symbol of Indian ingenuity and aspiration.”
“For many, the Sierra evokes an everlasting longing — a silhouette glimpsed on the horizon, a feeling that lingers long after the journey ends. Today, that memory transforms into a bold vision for the future,” he added.
First introduced in 1991, the Sierra continues to hold nostalgic value among Indian car enthusiasts. The new model reinterprets that legacy with a modern 5-door design, advanced safety systems, contemporary technology, and a premium, family-friendly interior. It also incorporates ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), underscoring its shift toward future-ready mobility.
The new Tata Sierra is expected to be priced competitively in the mid-size SUV segment. Industry reports suggest that the entry-level ICE variant may start around ₹11 lakh (ex-showroom), with higher ICE trims priced up to ₹20–21 lakh. The EV versions are expected to begin around ₹18 lakh, with top-end trims estimated at ₹24–25 lakh, depending on battery size and features. Official pricing will be announced at launch.
