
Tapan Mohanty: Breakthrough Star, Wins Gold at National Gymnastics Meet
Odisha’s Tapan Mohanty produced a standout performance to win the All-Around gold medal at the Senior Artistic Gymnastics National Championships held here on Monday.
Mohanty secured the top position with a total combined score of 73.433 across all six apparatus, displaying strong consistency, balance, and technical precision in the floor exercise, pommel horse, rings, vault, parallel bars, and horizontal bar. His composed execution throughout the competition helped him maintain a narrow lead in a closely contested field.
Haryana’s Yogeshwar Singh finished second with a score of 72.667 , while Shreyas Chaudhari of SSCB claimed the bronze medal with 71.268 points .
The competition witnessed intense rivalry among top gymnasts, but Mohanty’s steady performance under pressure proved decisive in securing the gold medal. His result marks a significant achievement for Odisha in national-level gymnastics.
Adding to the state’s success, the Odisha men’s team also qualified for the Senior MAG Team Championship Final , reflecting a strong overall showing by the host state in the championship.
