Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) MLA G Saravanan has alleged that he was offered between ₹30 crore and ₹100 crore to leave his party and join the DMK , claiming he faced threats after rejecting the alleged inducement.

Addressing reporters, the Srivaikuntam MLA said several individuals approached him with offers to switch sides and warned him of consequences when he refused. He claimed he has evidence of the alleged “horse-trading” attempts , including details involving a theatre owner from Tirunelveli and supporters of a former minister.

Saravanan further alleged that he was threatened with harm and claimed a lorry had allegedly attempted to crash into his vehicle about 25 days ago. He said his rise from a grassroots background may have led some people to believe he could be pressured or bought.

The allegations have intensified the political confrontation between TVK and DMK , with both sides accusing each other of attempting to poach legislators. The controversy comes amid growing competition in Tamil Nadu politics following the emergence of actor-turned-politician CM Vijay’s TVK , which has added a new challenge to established parties.

The DMK has denied allegations of political inducements, while the claims have renewed debate over defections, money power and political influence in the state.
