
Tamil Nadu plans ₹30,000 Cr shipbuilding investment, 55,000 Jobs
The Tamil Nadu government has announced a massive ₹30,000 crore investment in the shipbuilding sector, a move expected to generate over 55,000 direct and indirect jobs in the state. The initiative aims to position Tamil Nadu as a major hub for shipbuilding and maritime industries in India.
The investment plan, unveiled by the state government, includes the development of modern shipyards, advanced manufacturing facilities, and infrastructure to support both commercial and defense shipbuilding. Officials highlighted that the project will attract domestic and international players, further boosting the state’s industrial growth.
Speaking on the occasion, a government spokesperson said, “ This initiative will not only enhance Tamil Nadu’s shipbuilding capabilities but also create significant employment opportunities, strengthen the maritime ecosystem, and contribute to India’s strategic capabilities in the sector.”
With global demand for ships rising and India’s maritime ambitions expanding, Tamil Nadu’s ambitious plan is expected to boost exports, generate skilled employment, and attract major investments, reinforcing the state’s position as a key player in the country’s industrial growth story.
