Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay on Friday ordered a five-year age relaxation for government jobs, following representations from aspirants appearing for competitive recruitment examinations.
The decision was announced through an official Tamil Nadu government release, which clarified that the additional concession would remain in force for five years and apply over and above existing age-relaxation norms.
According to details reported following the announcement, the upper age limit for general-category candidates applying for Group I services will increase from 32 to 37 years, while that for reserved-category candidates will rise from 37 to 42 years.
For differently abled candidates, the upper age limit for Group I services will increase from 42 to 47 years for the general category and from 47 to 52 years for reserved categories.
For Group II and Group II-A services, the upper age limit for general-category candidates will rise from 30 to 35 years. The limit for differently abled candidates in the general category will increase from 40 to 45 years, while reserved-category candidates will continue to have no upper age limit under the existing provisions.
The five-year relaxation is intended to provide additional opportunities to candidates seeking employment in state government departments. The revised limits will operate alongside existing concessions under applicable recruitment rules.
Candidates are advised to check official recruitment notifications and government guidelines for details on the implementation of the revised age limits across specific examinations and posts.
