Tamil Actor Arya Booked by Jubilee Hills Police Over Alleged Rs 1.80 Crore Payment Dispute

Tamil actor Arya has landed in legal trouble after the Jubilee Hills police in Hyderabad registered a criminal case against him and members of his production team over allegations of non-payment of Rs 1.80 crore to a cinema equipment supplier. The case stems from a complaint filed by Taher Cine Technic , a Film Nagar-based company that claims it was not paid for equipment rented for the film Ananthan Kadu . Police have initiated an investigation to verify the allegations.

According to the complaint, Taher Cine Technic supplied high end digital cinema cameras and specialised lighting equipment for the film's production. The company alleged that it also bore the cost of transporting the equipment to Kerala , where the film was shot, and that the production successfully completed filming using the rented gear.

The vendor claimed that despite repeated reminders and follow ups after the shoot concluded, the production team failed to settle the rental charges, leaving an outstanding payment of Rs 1.80 crore . The company alleged that several attempts to recover the money through discussions did not produce any result.

The dispute escalated when the complainant accused Arya , producer Vinod , and an assistant identified as Kishore of allegedly threatening and intimidating company representatives whenever payment was demanded. Based on these allegations, the Jubilee Hills police registered a case against the trio under provisions related to cheating and criminal intimidation and have begun collecting evidence as part of the investigation.

Investigators are expected to examine rental agreements, financial records and statements from both parties to determine whether criminal offences were committed. No arrests have been reported so far, and the probe remains at a preliminary stage.

At the time of publication, Arya and his production team had not issued any official statement responding to the allegations. The police investigation is ongoing, and further action will depend on the findings of the inquiry.
