T20 World Cup: Refunds assured for Kolkata and Ahmedabad tickets if Pak reach semis or final

Cricket fans planning to attend the T20 World Cup semi-finals and final can now book their tickets, with the ICC assuring full refunds if Pakistan’s matches affect the venue arrangements. Tickets went on sale Tuesday evening at 7 pm IST through the official portal tickets.t20worldcup.com.

The first semi-final on March 4 and the second on March 5 , along with the final on March 8, have flexible venue arrangements. Semifinal 1 may be held at either R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo or Eden Gardens in Kolkata , while Semifinal 2 is confirmed for Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai . The final is scheduled for Ahmedabad , unless Pakistan reaches the summit clash, in which case it will move to Colombo .

Under the ICC’s policy, ticket holders for Kolkata or Ahmedabad will receive a full refund if Pakistan qualifies for either the semi-finals or the final. A similar refund applies if Sri Lanka reaches the semi-final and plays against any team other than India.

Currently, Pakistan will play in Semifinal 1 in Colombo on March 4 if they qualify for the last four, while India’s qualification could see them playing either Semifinal 1 or 2 depending on the draw . If Pakistan fails to make the knockouts but Sri Lanka qualifies and plays a team other than India, semifinal 1 will still be in Colombo. If neither scenario occurs, or if India faces Sri Lanka, Kolkata will host the first semi-final as planned.

This arrangement ensures that fans are not inconvenienced by venue changes due to the tournament’s floating schedule. Tickets purchased for venues that ultimately do not host semifinal 1 or the final will be automatically refunded to the ticket-holder.
