Swiatek marks 400th win in Beijing

World No. 1 Iga Swiatek celebrated a milestone victory on Monday, claiming her 400th career win by defeating Camila Osorio to reach the fourth round of the China Open. Meanwhile, Carlos Alcaraz fought back from a set down in Tokyo to secure a place in the Japan Open final.

Swiatek, fresh from her Korea Open triumph last week, overwhelmed Osorio 6-0 in the first set before the Colombian retired early in the second. The Polish star, a six-time Grand Slam champion, also became the first player to post 25 or more wins at WTA-1000 events for three straight seasons. She next faces American Emma Navarro.

Reflecting on her performance, Swiatek said, “I feel like I played well in the first set and really used my game to push Camila. I’m sorry she had to retire.”

Elsewhere in Beijing, fourth seed Mirra Andreeva and Marta Kostyuk advanced comfortably, while Jessica Pegula staged a gritty fightback against Emma Raducanu, saving three match points before winning 3-6, 7-6 (9), 6-0.

On the men’s side of the China Open, top seed Jannik Sinner cruised past Fabian Marozsan 6-1, 7-5 to book a semifinal against Alex de Minaur, who advanced after Jakub Mensik retired injured. Later, Alexander Zverev was set to meet Daniil Medvedev in a high-profile quarterfinal clash.

In Tokyo, world No. 1 Alcaraz rallied past Casper Ruud 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 to notch his 66th win of the season, a personal best. He will face second seed Taylor Fritz in Tuesday’s final. Fritz, who struck 13 aces to beat Jenson Brooksby, recently downed Alcaraz at the Laver Cup.
