Nikhil Siddhartha’s ambitious period action drama ‘Swayambhu’ is shaping up as a massive visual spectacle, with the film reportedly featuring more than 2,500 CG shots. The latest update comes as the makers accelerate post production on the much delayed PAN India project.

According to the latest industry update, the VFX heavy film is currently in the final stages of post production. The extensive computer generated imagery is said to be one of the major reasons behind the film’s prolonged post production schedule, with the makers unwilling to compromise on the visual quality.

The film’s shoot reportedly took around 175 days to complete. An earlier official promotional video had described the production as a 170 day shoot, indicating the scale of the work that went into the project.

‘Swayambhu’ was initially announced for a February 13, 2026 release and was later postponed to April 10 because additional time was required for post production and VFX work. The film subsequently missed that date as the visual effects work continued.

The latest industry buzz suggests that the makers are now targeting an October or November 2026 release, although no fresh theatrical date has been officially announced yet. A September 9 report said the team was confident of bringing the film to theatres within the next couple of months, with October being considered as a possible window.

Directed by Bharat Krishnamachari, the period action drama features Nikhil as a warrior and stars Samyuktha Menon and Nabha Natesh as the female leads. The cast also includes Sunil, Subbaraju and Satya.

The film brings together cinematographer K K Senthil Kumar, composer Ravi Basrur and action choreographer King Solomon. Phantom VFX is associated with the film’s visual effects work.

Produced by Bhuvan and Sreekar of Pixel Studios and presented by Tagore Madhu, ‘Swayambhu’ is among Nikhil’s most expensive and ambitious projects. With the makers now focusing on completing the 2,500-plus CG shots, the official release announcement is expected soon.
