Swarna Gramam–Ward Offices to Strengthen Local Governance: Minister Dola

The Andhra Pradesh government is taking steps to ensure faster and more efficient public services at the village and ward levels, said Swarna Gramam–Swarna Wardu Minister Dr. Dola Sri Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy. He was speaking in the Legislative Council after the passage of a bill renaming village and ward secretariats as Swarna Gramam and Swarna Wardu offices, explaining the government’s objectives behind the move.

The minister said the initiative is part of the government’s broader vision to transform the state into “Swarna Andhra” by strengthening grassroots governance. By renaming the secretariats and restructuring their functioning, the government aims to deliver improved public services more effectively at the local level.

He also noted that the services of employees working in these offices across various departments are being recognized. The government is considering measures to provide promotion opportunities and introduce policies that encourage better performance among staff.

To ensure better functioning, the government has introduced a three-tier monitoring system to oversee the operations of these offices. This mechanism, he said, will help regularly review the delivery of services and ensure efficiency.

Dr. Veeranjaneya Swamy alleged that the previous government had several shortcomings in the village-level administrative system. The present coalition government, he said, is working to correct those gaps and establish a stronger governance framework , while also reinforcing the Panchayati Raj system.

He further stated that Finance Commission funds are now being released effectively to panchayats, alleging that the previous YSRCP government had diverted these funds. The current government, he added, is ensuring that financial resources are properly utilized for village development.

The minister reiterated that the government is committed to strengthening the Swarna Gramam and Swarna Wardu offices so that essential government services are accessible to people at the grassroots level.
