Speaking at the United Nations’ Second Committee discussion on “Macroeconomic Policy Questions and Financing for Development” in New York, Peddapalli MP Gaddam Vamsi Krishna emphasized that India’s long-term vision is inclusive and collective global development.

Highlighting current global challenges, he noted that the world economy is facing multiple headwinds, including slowing growth and widening trade imbalances. In such a scenario, he said, international trade must become a driving force for shared prosperity.

Vamsi reiterated that India has always stood for a fair, transparent, and inclusive trading system, ensuring that no nation is left behind. He urged that developing countries should be given greater representation and voice in the global economic system.

Calling for reforms in major international financial institutions such as the World Trade Organization (WTO), International Monetary Fund (IMF), and the World Bank, he stressed that such changes are essential to make these institutions more responsive to the needs of developing nations.

He further underlined the importance of enhancing the participation of developing countries in global value chains and ensuring transparency and effective management of sovereign debts. Investment flows, he said, should not only be accelerated but also directed toward sustainable development goals.

Concluding his address, Vamsi emphasized that true progress can only be achieved when nations work together, building on the three pillars of society, economy, and environment. “Only through collective effort,” he said, “can we realize a truly sustainable and inclusive global future.”
