Suspected Pak Drones Sighted Along LoC In Rajouri, Search Operation Launched

Security forces launched a search operation along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district after suspected Pakistani drones were detected near the border, with officials reporting multiple instances of aerial and ground movement in the area.

Three suspected drones reportedly entered Indian airspace near Rumlidhara in the Nowshera sector during the intervening night of Thursday and Friday. Alert troops detected the UAVs and activated counter drone systems, forcing all three to retreat across the LoC, officials said. Other reports said troops also opened fire at the drones.

The drone activity came amid a separate report of suspicious ground movement near the border fence. According to officials cited by Hindustan Times, an Army patrol around 7.15 pm on Thursday noticed a suspected infiltrator carrying a backpack in the Rumlidhara area. The patrol opened fire, following which the person reportedly fled. A search operation was subsequently launched in the adjoining area.

Security forces are checking the forward areas to rule out an infiltration attempt and determine whether the drones may have dropped any weapons, ammunition, narcotics or other material. No such recovery had been officially confirmed in the latest reports.

Meanwhile, a fresh Pakistani UAV sighting was reported on Friday evening in the Behrooti area of the Rajouri sector. Army sources said the drone was detected around 8.05 pm and tracked as it moved towards the Mangalnar Dabrote axis. The entire forward sector was subsequently placed under tight aerial and ground surveillance.

Security forces have intensified searches in nearby forward areas amid concerns over possible drone assisted infiltration or the dropping of contraband and weapons. Further details are awaited as surveillance continues along the LoC.

The latest developments have prompted heightened vigilance not only in Nowshera but also across adjoining border areas, including Sunderbani and Poonch, amid reports of increased suspicious activity.

Earlier this year, suspected drone activity was also reported in forward areas of Rajouri and Samba districts, leading to similar search and sanitisation operations.

Security agencies remain on high alert as they investigate whether the reported drone activity and suspicious ground movement were connected.
