Surprise school check in Kota

Education and Panchayati Raj Minister Madan Dilawar on Thursday conducted surprise inspections at several government schools in Kota to assess teaching standards, infrastructure, and administrative discipline. The visit comes amid growing concern over teacher absenteeism and lack of accountability.

During the inspections, Minister Dilawar observed several serious lapses. At Govt Higher Secondary School, Surajpol, four teachers were found using mobile phones during class; their devices were immediately confiscated and show-cause notices were issued. At Govt Higher Secondary School, Brajrajpur, no teachers were present in many classrooms, and a senior mathematics teacher, Ajay Jain, caught with a mobile phone attempted to flee but was suspended on the spot. In Govt Higher Secondary School, Mahaveer Nagar-III, students were seen in online classes without proper supervision, while required teaching records and homework diaries were missing; the principal, Sunita Sahu, was issued a notice for mismanagement.

Dilawar also flagged deficiencies in school facilities and maintenance. He directed that urgent corrective action be taken where basic amenities are lacking. He emphasized that negligence in duty whether by teachers or school leadership will not be tolerated, and that strong accountability measures must be enforced.
