Actor Suriya and the team of his upcoming Tamil film 'Scene' generated excitement at a promotional event in Dubai ahead of its worldwide theatrical release on November 6, coinciding with Diwali.

Titled Scene Live in Dubai, the event was held on October 25 at Silicon Central Mall and brought together Suriya, director Jithu Madhavan, Nazriya Nazim and Naslen. The film marks Malayalam filmmaker Madhavan's Tamil directorial debut.

Speaking at the event, Suriya said he had wanted to collaborate with Madhavan and found himself laughing throughout the story narration. He praised the director for creating a distinctive cinematic world, similar to his earlier Malayalam films 'Romancham' and 'Aavesham'.

Suriya plays DSP Inbaraj, an unconventional police officer at the centre of the crime thriller. A new 64-second character glimpse, released online on October 26 after its presentation at the Dubai event, shows Inbaraj investigating a murder during the COVID-19 pandemic. The footage also hints at another phase of the story.

The glimpse features 'Respectaa', composed by Sushin Shyam, with vocals by Arivu and lyrics by Vaasi. The film's soundtrack has already introduced audiences to the singles 'Aathi Iva Yarraa' and 'Aeroplane'.

The project also marks Nazriya Nazim's return to Tamil cinema after 12 years. She plays Maya, while Malayalam actor Naslen makes his Tamil debut as Eswaran. The supporting cast includes Lal, Anandraj and Raj Priyan.

Produced by Suriya and Jyotika under Zhagaram Studios and 2D Entertainment, the film has also attracted attention in overseas markets. Advance bookings have opened in Australia, with US bookings scheduled to begin on October 27 and Malaysian ticket sales expected to follow.

'Scene' is set to face box-office competition from Nayanthara's 'Mookuthi Amman 2' and 'Ramayana: Part 1', starring Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi. The makers are banking on the combination of Suriya's screen presence, Madhavan's distinctive storytelling and the film's action-comedy elements to draw audiences during the festive season.
